Not too long ago, about 500 years or so, mankind firmly believed that the earth was flat. Sailing to the edge of the known world one would simply slip of the edge. See ya! So Ferdinand Magellan set sail and was the first person to circumnavigate the globe. Mind evolution.
Nicolaus Copernicus published information (about 1540) that the Sun was at the centre of our little universe and not the earth. Of course the Church banned this idea as it was contrary to scripture.
Galileo Galilei took up were Copernicus left off and proved that he was in fact correct. Mind evolution.
These are just a few of the more emphatic examples of how we, as humans, evolve. We prod, poke, question, study and prove ideas, theories, hypotheses and statements. It’s what we are good at, after all we have a good sized brain.
Could you imagine what life would be like if we did not question, prod and poke existing ideas and theories. One word would describe it...boring.
We continue to do this every day, the quest for knowledge is ceaseless and exciting. It is how we move forward. A mind evolution every day.
The majority of scientific work is theories. A theory is just that, a theory, not a fact. Scientists are always striving to improve what they already know. If a new discovery is made today the theory is updated and shared with peers. After that we see a new theory evolve. Ceaseless.
Not so much with any type of religion. It is taken as fact and you are not allowed to question it...at all. No evolution taking place. Sure there are a few that tweak it to suit their own agendas but the underlying dogma is taken to be fact. Do not evolve this please. No going forward allowed here.
