The recent handling of Syria clearly shows the kind of bigotry the West is captured in. Western Europe and North America act behind a protective shield of democracy and human rights as guardians of moral and virtue, thus disguising their real intentions.
They give themselves the right to judge about good and evil, morality and immorality and even about right and wrong. But despite that their pointer fingers are just a clever staged diversionary tactic, which serves the true interests of the involved governments and the multinational corporations behind them.
Led by the self-proclaimed "world police", as well as the "deputy sheriffs" from various countries these governments fight wars against alleged terrorists and "rogue nations" or what they call "nations of concern".
They do this against humans and nations who don’t want to bow to the will of the “good boys”, and who are too weak to effectively defend themselves. Western governments play a double game by first supplying these terrorists and nations with weapons, just to take them out as potential and real threats after. This makes the western military industrial complex jump for joy as well as all those corporations, which make a mint rebuilding the destroyed infrastructure.
Sex sells and so do wars, especially if you get money for weapons out of countries with lots of natural resources, against which you then fight wars and subsequently help generously in the rebuilding process. What is the role of the mainstream media? They have become the spearhead for the warmongers.
The media as the “fourth power“, which should be the public conscience of the state, disavows itself as a compliant servant of a morally bankrupt system. We have media companies and journalists as shabby prostitutes, governments and corporations as conscienceless pimps and citizens as willing suitors.
But who really gives the West the right to judge other nations, cultures, religions and the overall way of life? Is it the ethic superiority of their pseudo liberal and pseudo democratic western culture? Or aren’t the true reasons their massive financial assets, military force and economic power?
Maybe the last point is exactly the reason why the West interferes in all nations, where its geopolitical and economic interests coincidently fall together with discrepancies in their moral concepts. Ruanda was of no interest to them, and who cares about genocide in Africa anyway? Who cares about the forced urbanization of the Uighurs, Tibetans and other ethnic minorities in China? Heaven forbid!
Who is going to build the junk that fills the department stores and supermarkets in that case? These are some of the pertinent questions to ruminate about.
There is an old quote that says “nations have no friends, just interests”. This creed as a matter of cause still applies today without any limitation. While the CIA for example supplied Saddam Hussein with weapons in the late 70s and early 80s, so that he could go to war with Iran, they also watched dispassionately, when the Iraqi army used lethal gas against the Kurdish civilian population. Who cares about Kurdish civilians, if the dictator, supported by the West, fights a war with the Islamist regime in Teheran? What about Syria?
Chemical weapons are used and nobody knows who is really responsible for supplying and using them. However, despite this uncertainty the West wants to bomb Damascus and reduce it into rubble and ashes as it did with Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya.
In addition to that the so called rebels in Syria - supported by Qatar and Saudi Arabia – want to establish their own caliphate with support from the US, Great Britain and France! Countries that pretend to be so afraid of Islamist attacks fund and train exactly these radical groups in Syria, just like they did in Libya, and dare to complain, if Assad gets support from Hezbollah and Iran.
The Syrian government gets blamed for various crimes, while the “rebels” get away with the most despicable atrocities and even get rewarded! Is it not one of the reasons for this blatant hypocrisy that the West has made itself dependent on Arabic oil, and therefore has become susceptible to blackmail? Even the Gulf nations have a geostrategic interest in Syria. Apart from a liquid gas pipeline to the Mediterranean, Syria is a perfect base of operations against Israel.
The West should at least be honest and say that they only act out of geostrategic and economic interests. They can’t enforce their way of life and certainly not their virtue and moral system on nations with completely different cultures and religions. Even if one believes that Sharia law is barbaric, who gives him or her the right to interfere with the internal affairs of sovereign nations?
Does the West want Muslims to tell them what to do and what not? The rest of the world doesn’t need western arrogance or chauvinism to feel better or superior. They know they are not, everybody is not better or superior. The West is different, the rest of the world is different, neither is better, nor worse.
How can we ever have peace on earth, if we are not willing to accept our differences?
Surely, almost everybody would welcome a free Tibet or a free Kurdistan, as well as a peaceful solution to the conflicts in the Middle East, but it is the warmongers especially in western countries, who make this an impossible task.
If they think it is necessary to interfere to prevent genocide, then they should do so without partisanship and without geostrategic and economic interests of multinational corporations. If they want to exemplify their view of human rights or ethics they should do so exclusively out of these reasons and not out of greed.
Humanism doesn’t know financial priorities. This should be the guiding principle.
