I can already almost see the atheist getting ready to slaughter me with ridicule and other bad intention, but this is not a religious rant nor am I trying to convey any religious idea or point.
What I do however want to show is something that has got me thinking about coincidence, or perhaps the absence of coincidence, as connected to a very small passage out of the Bible. Forget for a moment the book as a religious text, but merely see the passage in the time context it was written and by what type of man it was written. Atheists normally are quick to point out that the Bible was written by copper aged simpletons who had no scientific knowledge, so for the purpose of discussion here I will agree with this view.
To recap, this is what the man wrote, almost 2000 years ago, give or take a few years.
Rev13
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that has understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred three score and six.
Now, let's go a few hundred years back and see if people had this number or any number for that matter. The simple answer is no. Babies that were born had their name added into a church Bible or some church list if it was a Christian community. If she was Chinese she might have had her feet bound and a note made by some priest on rice paper and if she was accidentally born in Africa, well, mostly nothing was written down and she could just count her lucky stars to live beyond the ripe old age of 35.
Even my grandfather was never registered and I believe it was only somewhere after 1920 that the British made a statute fooling people into registering births. Note, not children being born, but births, but that is another issue for another day. This statute led to men and women getting an ID number and that number I contend is the number of the beast, as was predicted by the bronze age man. Try to buy an house or car without having this ID number or try to contract and you will soon realize that what the man wrote came true.
Even more, he particularly wrote that this number is the number of a man. Note, man=mankind=adam, as per Hebrew tradition and language. Clearly the ID number is a number of a man, or numbers given to mankind. Today very few of mankind has no ID number and those without it can basically not form part of most economic activity.
All considered, who is the beast then? Perhaps the government, perhaps some other evil organization or group behind the current systems of government? You can decide for yourself.
In closing, is it coincidence that a simple bronze age man described what was going to happen so accurately or perhaps no coincidence at all.
