The power of knowledge

19 June 2014, 15:21
I find it disturbing when people say, they have no access to information, yet they spend hours on Facebook. That's my source of information. I get links to very crucial sites with great reading material.
People would be asking me about business funding, the DTI.... information that is readily available on thr net, in written form!

Most people experience hardships as a consequence of their unwillingness to READ!

The world is being passed on from generation to generation and the only manuals available are in written form.

Books and other reading materials are the only tools that link those generations. If it wasn't for Sir Isaac Newton, some of the privileges we enjoy today wouldn't exist. But mostly, it's thanks to those that read from Sir Newton's books that we are now enjoying these privileges.

In a world that is quickly becoming a global village, a world in which what then took years to happen can today happen in a split of a second, we can't afford to reinvent the wheel. We need to learn from the past generations and from one another.

Reading is a vital component in the advancement of humankind, however, most of us believe that one day, someone will miraculously save us from our hardships.

We only have ourselves to depend on. The ubiquitous nature of the Internet has a potential to empower us beyond measure.

Yet we ignore this power bestowed upon us by the likes of our teachers, lecturers, parents and grand parents!

The power of knowledge can only be unlocked by those that read.

Dear Vanessa: who is African?

Sorry to rain on your parade. I won’t take much of your time. I’m sure you have more important things to muse over than some silly drivel from a black man. Now I’m going to ask a few questions that might just sound plain silly – or unwise. That shouldn’t surprise you, seeing that you think my type is reckless anyway. Read more...
