Just last week America hosted its most expensive election so far ,it was estimated that the election was
worth 6 billion USD(that is a dollar for every person in the world)
Barack Obama came out as the winner of this mammoth election with no less than one and half
million more votes than his close competition ,the last election in 2008 Obama won by 10 million
more votes than his rival competitor mr Mcain ,this marginal victory over votes was a clear indication
that the American public was beginning to ask difficult quetion about Obama's administration and
the American economy
America has 7% unemployment rate with the economy on the brink of yet another reccesion with
America population being 300 million that is 5% of the world population and consumes 30% of the
world production of oil,it is sometimes said that in a day New York consumes more oil than the whole
of Africa ,with two out of the top seven supplier oil to America being on the continent of Africa
(Angola,Nigeria) one needs to further look at US- Africa relationship which was and will always be
non mutual benefiting
In October 2007 while Obama was still senator he gave the Leon Sullivan foundation a response to their
presidential town hall Africa Questionnaire Obama stated 'Africom(the military base established in
2008 for Africa) should serve to coordinate and synchronise our military(USA) activities with our
objectives in Africa' he further said 'there will be situations that require the United States to work
with patners to fight terrorism with LETHAL FORCE',during the launch of AFRICOM vice admiral Robert
Moeller the deputy of AFRICOM speaking at an AFRICOM conference held at the national defence
university at Ford Mcnair he said'the free flow of natural resources from Africa to the global market
was one of AFRICOM'S guiding principles and OIL disruption is a major challenge to US interest in Africa'
This was contradiction to why was AFRICOM invented which the US department of state explained as
'the US military's new command center for Africa (AFRICOM will play a supportive role as African
countinues to built democratic institutions and establishing good governance across the continent
,AFRICOM'S foremost mission is to help Africans to archive their own security and to support Africa
leadership efforts'
America's relationship with Africa has not always been that of mutual benefit with America supporting
dictators ,Mobutu of Zaire (1965-1997),Houphet Boigny of Cote d'ivoire(1960-1993),Ian Smith of
Rhodesia now Zimbabwe(1953-1980),Said Barre of Somalia 1978 -1991),Arap Moi of Kenya
(1978-2003),Hastings Banda of Malawi (1967-1995),Omar Bongo of Gabon(1967-2009) and the
apartheid regime of South Africa (1910-1994),because the US foreign plolicy Africa is always being pre
determined with the presidency of Barack Obama will be that of natural and oil resource
management than of African live improvement
In 2009 Israel embarked on a military action against Palestine which saw 1500 people dead in a
week,with Israel apparently getting more American aid than Africa a no fly zone was never issued to
prevent such lost of live but in 2011 Libya was issued with a no fly zone restriction with apparently only
20 people losing they lives in a week ,this selective amnesia of law enforcing was due to the fact that
Libya is ranked 15 in the countries producing oil ,the big appetite of America of Oil and other minerals
and raw materials makes it a threat to world peace especially Africa
But president Obama is a shame to the continent of Africa with the American constitution classifying
his wive and kids as 3/5 human being,which basically reduces them to secondary citizens
