In what they refer to as the second phase of the controversial “Know your DA” campaign, opposition party Democratic Alliance (DA) has made an about turn on their stance on Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE). According to its slogan, DA wants the kind of “BEE that creates jobs, not billionaires”.
As if this statement is not ambiguous enough, the DA states that it is committed to BEE or B-BBEE "as one of the most important ways of redressing the wrongs of the past". To confuse the audience even further, the party states: "This does not mean that we agree with the way that the government has implemented B-BBEE. And it does not mean that our version of B-BBEE is exactly the same as the governments (sic)”.
If I were to quote the DA once more, I am sure the reader would begin not to take me serious. Now that is an eventuality I cannot live with. So I will stop quoting the DA to retain my integrity as a socio-political commentator. So let me go straight to the point. The DA does not support BEE, whether it is broad-based or not. It has never supported it, and it will never do.
Contrary to their claims, the DA also does not support social grants or land reform. The DA does not support the convictions of Nelson Mandela or Steve Biko. The DA has never participated in the struggle against Apartheid. Instead, they have benefited from Apartheid. To sum it all up; the DA does not care about black people or the poor. And this I state without any hint of prevarication. I state this with my head up in the sky because of a number of observations I have made.
Ever since it started its “Know your DA” campaign, the neo-liberal party has deliberately distorted the history of the ANC in particular, and the liberation struggle in general to appear as a legitimate party. Knowing very well that theirs is an illegitimate party, the DA has been stealing the leaders of the ANC, in particular Nelson Mandela, for their own selfish interests.
In Tlokwe, North West, it is reported that the DA uses ANC symbols, logo and other regalia to campaign. According to ANC Spokesperson Jackson Mthembu, during the campaigning in Tlokwe ahead of the 18 September by-elections, DA members used ANC symbols in order to get the attention of the voters. After being allowed into the homes of the people of Tlokwe, desperate DA wolves are reported to then take off their sheep’s skin, and then insult the ANC without an iota of shame.
The DA has tried all available avenues, but the ANC has proven too strong for it. At some point they used “Stop the ANC” as an election slogan. When this strategy failed, the DA went into the leaders of the ANC. In terms of the latter strategy, all leaders of the ANC were supposed to be branded as incompetent, corrupt and, in some cases, simply primitive.
Expectedly, the strategy also failed. The DA then tried an old tested strategy; window dressing. Some coconut blacks like Lindiwe Mazibuko and Mmusi Maimane were recruited to shift the voters’ attention away from the DA’s racist policy posturing. When some of these “rented” blacks became too cocky for the DA’s liking, the DA decided to steal the history of the ANC.
Like all other strategies it has used before, this one will not succeed to convince the masses to vote the DA. It is only a few people who will be misled by the DA’s antics. I must warn people in advance that the DA is not what it claims to be. The DA simply uses the policies, ideas and strategies of the ANC to achieve opportunistic ends. In fact, like all other copy cats, the DA is so obsessed with the ANC that it is beginning to forget its own identity. When Helen Zille dreams during the night, she does not dream of herself in blue outfits. She dreams of herself in black, green and yellow regalia.
It is therefore not surprising that when DA members wake up in the morning, they go straight to the symbols, policies and even the history of the ANC. In medical practice, when a person suffers from delusions that they actually think they are someone else, the mental disorder is called schizophrenia or schizophreniform disorder. On the basis of the findings made above, I would therefore state that DA is suffering from political schizophrenia.
The schizophrenia of the DA has advanced to the stage where they actually think that they are the ANC. As potential voters, our people must correctly diagnose the DA’s symptoms. They must not fall for lies peddled by the DA that it is a party of the people. DA is the party of the rich and white minorities of our nation. Their interests are in the advancement of monopoly capital and white privilege. They are doing this in the Western Cape. So if you vote for them, you are doing so at your own peril.
