Why? It is because it is written. The enemy is planting seeds of error within the world and the church. But God's truth cannot die but forever remain. It is sad that there are individuals or church system(s) who do not believe the divinity of Christ Jesus though much evidence is presented in the Scriptures. The Jehovah's Witnesses is the system that I know which do not believe this fact but could they be right on this? if you JW or one who believe Christ is not God this article is not for the purpose of offending you or belittling you but to test to see what scripture says. Remember Isaiah 1:18 says, "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD."
It is said of Christ in the OT: " For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."- Isaiah 9:6. Note the words in bold, Jesus is called what? Mighty God. This is it! With no doubt we are shown that Christ is God. If he were not, why would the Bible attribute that to him? Wait!!! You may ask, "Why Christ is said to be everlasting Father, is he the Father?" Simple, notice what Christ said to Phillip; "Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?"- John 14:9. You see, Christ in nature, purpose and character is one with the Father yet they are separate beings. Christ clearly says, "I and my Father are one."- John 10:30, and in deed he is "...the express image of his (the Father) person..."-Hebrews 1:3.
See? He and the Father are one, that is why he is called the "mighty God." Even his name vindicate his divinity: "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel."- Isaiah 7:14, So Christ was to be called Emmanuel? What doest it mean?- " Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."-Matthew 1:23. There it is! He is called Emmanuel because He is God, for He is "God with us." What about John 1:1? It reads; "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." and who is the Word? Christ Jesus-" And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."- verse 14. What a perfect evidence also. It says "the Word was God". You see verse one uses the words "was God" because he was God before He came to earth, but wait! He is still God and will ever be. Notice what God the Father says to the Son, Christ, " But unto the Son he (the Father) saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands."- Hebrews 1:8-10. WOH! God the Father calling the Son God. Perfect!
Since we have seen that Christ is the Word and is one with the Father, and that he himself is God, what about the Holy Spirit? Is isn't the Holy Spirit one with both the Father and the Son? It is written; "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."- 1 John 5:7, it is no wonder Christ says, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."- Matthew 28:19. Clear! So why would some believe not in the Godhead? Why would Jehovah's Witness church for example not get this? It is of great notice to note that the New World Translation, Jehovah's Witnesses Bible, does not have the words "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." of 1 John 5:7, the question is why is it left out? If you a JW don't you think you should be consent and ask why is not included? Go and check it out please and see, it has verse 5 then is followed by verse 9, and in verse 5 it also says"For there are three witness bearers.", where is verse 6 and 7/ are they combined on verse 5, but where are the words? Sad hey, theres a finger in the pie. What about New Living Translation? It says; "So we have these three witnesses" Oooh! also incomplete. SAD!!!
And to those who believe that Christ is God, which is true, do not be intimidated by those who may say the Bible might have taken the doctrine of the Godhead from paganism. That's not quiet the case. You see let us not forget that the Devil was in heaven and knows what is there. The devil presents counterfeit, thats what he did with paganism. For example (1)The Bible acknowledges the Godhead, then Satan came with a counterfeit,,,(2) The Bible presents the Sabbath as Saturday, the Devil brought a counterfeit, which is Sunday,,,(3) The Bible gives prove that there is only one mediator between God and men, Jesus Christ, the Devil brought various counterfeits like ancestor worship or Marry worship...and you can go on and on. Note this article was mainly dealing with his divinity.
