The strong man and the temptress

08 July 2014, 07:27
Once upon a long time ago....
Judges 16 tells the tale of Samson and Delilah. Let's think about the tale in some detail, Samson was a strong bloke, so strong that he could rip down gates without tools, so strong that he could kick the snot out of a platoon of soldiers and this strength lay in his hair, you see God lived in his hair.
He met a stukkie and fell head over heels in lust. Delilah the temptress ws there to bring him to his knees. Delilah asked him why he was so strong, twice he told her tales and twice she brought soldiers into his boudoir and twice they failed. The third time was the charm, after all her deception he told her the truth, She had him trussed up like a turkey for the slaughter because God left him. His rod and staff no linger comforted poor Samson.
However after some torture, Samson loses his eyes and regains his strength. His final act is to topple a temple down on his own head, killing all inside it. His super strength does not save him.
We know that women are evil, The Bible tells us so, This tale reinforces the sterotype of the wicked woman that destroys a righteous man. This righteous man however must have been a total airhead. Let's think about this a little.
You have a stukkie on the side, She has another bloke on the side, you catch them in fragrante delectico, you may give her one chance, maybe even more, but your trust will be severely depleted. This tale is not about Samson catching her on the job however but more akin to a gangsters moll trying to dob him in.
Imagine if you were on the run, only your moll knew where you were and exactly which dark alley to follow, You almost get caught. You know the moll was involved because the deception you used was attempted to be used against you, They tried to tie you down with seven bow strings. The only person you told ws the floozy you were banging. The first time you could think that maybe someone overheard you talking.
She uses her wiles and tells you that you lied about the bow strings, why would you lie to her, don't you love her? You then tell her about the new ropes. The next night sure as chicken nuggets, you are tied down with ropes and the soldiers are there to arrest you.
The third time she asks you are surely not going to tell her the truth are you? This sounds like a first run of the cock crowing thrice before Jesus gets disavowed. I think this tale is the reason for the superstition that things come in threes, and third time lucky. Surely Delilah was masterful at the bedroom thing, because why else would Samson stick with her after she tried for a second time to get him slaughtered?
This tale has no moral to the story, It has no meaning and it outright makes no sense.
