The truth about Madiba

12 July 2013, 09:08  - Wilmen November
It is 6:45am and about 2 hours and 15min ago I updated my status on Facebook "Sjoe if you just had dream that Nelson Mandela is working on 7th flr at OLX and you gave him a handshake. How can you still slp after such an awesome experience....eish maybe its a farewell cause this dream will not make it to reality. God bless South Africa and our Tata Madiba."

Many of us, yes including myself will never experience the honour of meeting this great man. It will just remain a dream. I could say have a little faith boy, but come on now. Madiba is more guarded in hospital than when he was in prison.

I am no journalist or content producer or writer but I am a South African and that is enough to make my day. What I’m writing is just expression of opinion mixed with truth.

Truth: I could have been living another Zimbabwe, but because of Nelson Mandela’s decision I live in peace.

Even though here in Cape Town the flats long for peace, South Africa is in general a peaceful nation and I pray like many others that all the people in SA’s will be filled with peace. And I wish that Mandela’s legacy will fill the hearts of every person in the world.

I've heard many things about Mandela opinions mostly and some twisted truths on television maybe. Some opinions I heard is:

"I don't know why the fuss about this guy, he is a communist."

"He is an Atheist, why should the church pray for him"

"I don't care he is just another man!"

After my dream this morning I started thinking about this man like never before and I was filled with renewed respect for him.

There are so many boundaries that influence and separate us daily like race or skin colour, believes, even which church you go to, money and status and the list goes on and on. But oupa Nelson showed us that peace unites and give freedom.

Most religions I know of encourages peace I read the Bible like most South Africans and there is a scripture in Matthew 5 that says "Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God".

May I conclude by saying thank you Madiba you blessed us and shall be blessed as well. "The truth I know about you is You are a man of peace" The Author – Wilmen November
