The unshaken promise of God

18 March 2014, 10:23
It is a good thing when Christians could come and discuss Bible truth for seeking to understand the deeper truths for our time, truth that is everlasting. God is absolute truth. A statement from a fellow Christian, I believe, was put into comment on the previous article which need to be unpacked. The last article specifically reveal the truth that Jerusalem in the Middle East is not holy. And also Jerusalem is left by Christ desolate. You should understand that this is not a debate or personal attack but rather an article which seek to help for the understanding of Scriptural truth. And never make the articles typed as a final say but check all these things from the scriptures by yourselves then make personal decisions. Amen.

The Statement commented was as follows:"I am amazed that you being so learned and knowing quite a bit about the Bible are saying the God breaks covenant. He made a covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and will never go back on it. Israel IS the Holy land and the Israelites are and will be forever God's chosen Nation. Be very careful what you base you theology on because you are lying to people. GOD BLESS."

First of all with due respect, I would like to say I am still a long way into understanding many truths revealed for our time. Secondly God, brothers and sisters, does not break his promises or covenant. We should uncover this, already in Scripture.

1.  "...Israel IS the Holy land and the Israelites are andwill be forever God's chosen Nation."Surely the Scriptures should tell us who are the chosen or the elect of God: "And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened."-Matthew 24:22. One may easily conclude that the word "elect" may refer to national Israel in the Middle East but that cannot be how we make conclusions. The Scripture should tell us who are the elect or the chosen. Peter speaking to fellow Christians inspired by the Holy Spirit uttered these words: " But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light."-1 Peter 2:9. With clear declaration, the elect or the chosen of God are his followers, his true Christians. And old Israel as a nation had forfeited their privilege of being the chosen. I will not go into details on this but I ask you to go back to the article "Who is God's Israel?" on my badges. It deals with the transition from ancient nation Israel to Spiritual Israel, showing that the modern Israel of God is his followers.

2. "He made a covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and will never go back on it..."Surely it will not go back. We agree. And this very covenant God made with Abraham , then with his Isaac and Jacob, come with the promises.  And since God's followers, his Christian church, are modern Israel, do you think the Scripture will make it clear that the promises are to be also for they who believe? It is written; " Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made.He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one,And to thy seed, which is Christ."- Galatians 3:16. The promises which God made to Abraham was not for him only but also for his Seed, which represent Christ. So Christ inherit those promises, and to those who have given their lives to Christ and are in him are the ones who inherit this promises: "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise."-verse 29. God's people because of them being in Christ are Abraham's seed, and "heirs according to the promise." Amazing! So to the comment, we can clearly see that God's promises have not been abolished but through Christ to his followers are the promises made. To his Spiritual Israel.

3. "Israel IS the Holy land..."From the article I mentioned earlier to be read about God's modern Israel, surely scripture is clear. May it be read. Nonetheless, God has a holy city for his people for eternity, is not the Jerusalem in the middle east, it is the New Jerusalem: "And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband."-Revelation 21:2. If that broken Jerusalem in the Middle East is holy and will forever be, why would God need to make a New Jerusalem which will come from heaven? The fact of the matter is, Christ said old Jerusalem is left desolate.

"For he[Abraham] looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God...But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem..."-Hebrews 11:10; 12:22.
