Every wave in the ocean has a trough and crest, given enough time the momentum of the flow forces the wave to meld back into the entirety, allowing its energy and make-up to transform into the next wave. So then, each wave is unique only in its moment in time that it ‘lives’ and thereafter it scatters its contents to become a part of all the other waves, each exclusive in their own right, yet still a part of the totality of the ocean. The sea is the wave, in as much as the wave is the sea. We are everything, just as everything is you. The wave that precedes yours was a part of someone or something else’s in the past, just as yours is now and will be a part of another’s once you are no more.
As time flows onward so we find ourselves helplessly facing forward, stuck to the front of the wave of time and staring into the darkness that is the non-existent future. We are powerless to try and stop it, to get off of it or to try and escape it; we cannot control it, for we are a part of it. The future only exists once you step into it and that future is simply defined as now – it is not there until we experience it. Our brain is hesitant to imagine a non-existent future, for we are lulled into falsely accepting that the future is a definite occurrence. The Universe is an ocean, and the particular wave you are aware of at this very moment, began at consciousness and merges back into oneness when we go to sleep for the very last time.
When you are sentient of your reality and become cognisant of it, your particular experience becomes one of intricacy and values special attention. The moment you are lucid of experience, that is the moment you can manipulate yourself to suit the wave you’re on. The environment you find yourself in is Natures-way and as the part cannot comprehend the whole so it becomes advantageous to understand that we cannot change anything else but our own situation: we can only adapt. To begin to do so is hard and it takes time, but luckily time is all that we truly have and based on how you choose to use it, so the characteristic of the ride is determined. Through altering your state, so the states that follow and those adjacent to it are touched as well. It is also not possible to wait and expect something to appear before you, for the path forward simply does not yet exist; what you go out and create or find is all that will ever be. Many a life has been spent waiting for something to happen, they wait now still – deep beneath the ground.
Some people see naturally and others need to be shown where to look, there is no better ability there is only dissimilarity. There are differences between us because it allows us the opportunity to grow and to further ourselves. When you debate with someone of a ‘higher’ capability, you shall be the ‘winner’ at the end as you have gained something new, something raw in belief or understanding while they remain inert. We are all at differing stages of climbing a horizontal ladder; how you climb it is the determinant in what you gain from doing so. Let not pride or angst stand in-between you and growth, seek those “better”, “stronger” and “wiser” for through mutual experience you shall benefit in the end. What more can be sought than to expand the mind that allows for awareness and the conscious experience. The trick to it all is to make what you discover your very own, so that you may one day be sought out; to reveal what you have learned along the voyage.
Each one of us affects the Cosmos, just being alive has in one way or another altered the very fabric of existence and yet it has not done so in the very same breath. More matter is simply less energy and more energy simply less matter, we travel through the states unperturbed, just this time around we are conscious of it. The unconsciousness before birth and after death is not nothingness but merely a return to a Universal unconsciousness: the sea, the ether, the Cosmos. You can choose to frown or smile, it matters not for you surf the wave regardless – happiness however, is not obtained but lived and then it is only a pleasure because you make it so.
“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” – J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
