What would you be thinking if you were not told what to think, if you were not socialised in any custom or philosophy or influenced by your society?
It does not seem possible for this to happen.
We are born in a society, brought up in and era, have peer pressure and political shenanigans. We have to toe the line obeying family -, school -, church -, varsity -, cultural -, country -, etc. laws. Our lives are governed by rules and regulations.
Independent thinking comes with great effort. We have to use our mental ability to invent a system delving into and sift masses of information both past and present and even future, to be discerning and original.
If we do not have the time or structure in which to do this filtering, we have to admit that we are not individual or independent but are at the mercy of people and institutions that take advantage of this situation.
Our society has come to a place where things are out of control. We reward the individual person with the biggest ego and punish those who are serving society. We give voice to the most absurd and the ones that are at risk have no voice. I am afraid that our moral and social laws have not evolved or developed as fast as industry and technology.
We need to take stock on the human front, of what is happening now and adjust to a certain freedom that has gone haywire. It will involve critical thought, open minded societies and enormous changes on all levels of life. We are in a time slot of pivotal expansion. Traditional relationships and thought has come to a point where it is not practical anymore.
In all this we must rediscover those core values that can keep us on track as a humane society in an uncertain era of transformation. Core values that will form foundations from which we can make these changes without destroying everything that adds value to being human beings.
