I am elated since the announcement by Statistics South Africa that the Northern Cape government directed significant growth in job creation.
The quarter-on-quarter increase in employment of 11 000 new jobs between Q2: 2013 and Q3: 2013 is paramount to our conceptual understanding that the global economic outlook and the crises perpetuated by financial capital, was largely responsible for past stagnation in economic activity. The economic literacy clearly shown an improvement in the Agricultural sector, which is as a result of the gradual recovery from recent droughts experienced, coupled with the substantive flood recovery infrastructure, to the tune of 100’s of millions, which the Northern Cape government has injected within the agricultural sector.
The total employment stands at 306 000 (28%), up from 290 000 (30%) the same time last year. Quarter-to-quarter employment rose in a short period of a few months from 295 000 to a peak of 306 000.
The phenomenal decrease in unemployment, coupled with the 11 000 new entrants in the formal economy, will faster advance the programme on the reduction of Poverty, Inequality and Unemployment.
Our people will surely be inspired by the good work government is doing, and comes at an opportune time when the elections of a government will be based on an established record of delivery.
