Time. Just seems we never have enough hours in a day to do everything. Most of us are always rushing somewhere or late for something. Days fly by and before we know it another year has passed us by.
So we do the camping scene once a year with friends and family. No television, phones or watches. Just nature and time with loved ones. Oh and the occasional frog, mosquito or spider. One week to forget about work, bills, running a household.
One week I get to see my kids play free and have fun. And no matter how hard I scrub, those feet stay dirty. But the sticky hands and dirty faces makes me smile every time because they too forget about technology and re-discover the gift of the outdoors.
The gift of childhood and even as a grown up I get to experience that feeling with them. So much so, that I can almost bare the occasional frog, mosquito or spider.
And then during these days I am reminded of what truly matters. I get to see the beauty all around me and appreciate it. Watch as the sun sets in the evening. Sit around a campfire catching up with friends and just being present in the moment. Seeing my children have the time of their lives and getting to spend quality time with them.
Yes, then you realise that this is what memories are made of and how prescious time is. How blessed we are for every day we get to wake up and live. Even the stressful ones.
Time is the one thing we will all run out of someday so make sure every day is lived to the fullest and when your hours are stretched thin, keep in mind that it is also about quality and not quantity. Especially being present when you have children. Give them quality time and you will see them blossom and become the people the world needs today.
So yes, the cliche of take time to smell the roses comes to mind. In our busy, hectic lives we need to take a few minutes and just be. Whether it is having a cup of coffee while watching the sun rise in the morning or playing hide and seek with your 4 year old toddler after work.
Each and every one of us needs to find that special time of the day that makes you sit back and smile. That time when you realize life is beautiful.
