South Africa is undoubtedly a different country to what it was in 1994. I remember 1994 was the year I started high school in a multi-racial environment. In my school beginning years I was an excellent student, always in the top five of my class. In 1994 I got a rather rude awakening when I realized that even though I had passed my English with an A at my previous school I did not understand neither could I speak the language.
My education at the time was below basic but there is something about inspiration that can change the course of one’s life. My English teacher at the time was an eccentric lady who stirred something in me. Without realizing it she touched my life and set a stage for all my successes that would follow.
I am an extra ordinary woman, living in a country that has an extra ordinary past and those who live in it have managed to collectively do the extra ordinary. It baffles me then that such an extra ordinary people can accept a leadership that is below ordinary to say the least.
It is time for change – whether it comes from a person in the streets, ANC, DA, COPE, EFF or ACDP we don’t care. It is time for a leadership that will stand and be counted among those that inspire the nation to be patriotic to the cause of South Africans and the ideals which our revered constitution is based on.
