Tired of everything political

30 January 2014, 07:44

Is it just me or whenever you read the news it’s only negative? And when I read people’s comments, it’s almost only racist comments.

News Flash…

I’m a young white male and I genuinely don’t give a “Frikkie” anymore! Sorry News24, but you are keeping racism alive. And I personally think you need to find better reporters who can write a good objective article with all the facts. I’m not a journalist, but even I know an article should have the “who, what, when and how” in an article… Just saying…

As a person younger than 40 years old (I’m 35), I can say that I started life in the new South Africa. And in the last 20 years, our government has gone backwards. And for the stalwarts, please don’t argue… Stalwarts, your time is up. It is time for a new young generation to run the country.  Old farts should go retire and know that what needed to be changed politically has been changed. We have a president who is nearing 80… Is he the next Robert Mugabe? Why can’t we get competent people in politics? We have ministers running departments they have absolutely NO knowledge of. Why can’t we get people who have impressive credentials? For the smart asses out there, answer me this…

Would you like someone giving you heart operations that has a matric, but never went to university or did medical school? Nope, because you know you might not survive the operation… So isn’t managing an entire country the same? Managing billions of Rands, ensuring our economy is healthy, ensuring we can trust our police to keep us safe, ensuring that we have sufficient infrastructure, ensuring that our ties to other countries are healthy; ensuring our agricultural sector is producing enough food for us… Is our government doing this?

OK, so let’s say this is an impossible request in Africa. Not because of colour, but because of the mentality to get rich and famous and empower yourself. Why don’t we the people ask them to play Sim City 4? If they can successfully manage and grow a city on a simulator, maybe, just maybe, they can try being in government. With the lot we have governing our country, I somehow think they’ll be bankrupt in the game in the first hour!

Here’s the thing… I really REALLY don’t care who’s running the country. I don’t care if you are black OR white, or alien or even gay… Just run the damn country the way it should be, properly. I truly don’t care if Zuma is the president and he decides to marry again, and decides that Zille would make a marvellous wife. If we have roads we can drive on without being ripped off, or if we all have jobs we can go to, or we can have good hospitals and schools, I’m ok with him being president until he dies or as the ANC says, till Jesus comes again.  Just do your jobs…

Now, for the racists out there… I’m a young white male, and I don’t have a job right now. I’m busy hunting for a job and going to interviews, so for that chop who thinks whities have everything, GO to HELL! Secondly, I’m pretty sure black and white people my own age or younger are so tired of hearing the old generation blabbing on about the old days, racism and them wanting change. The white old folks say the K word, and the old black folks saying all whities are racist… OLD people, get a life or go retire peacefully and let us young people get on with our lives. It’s the new South Africa and we just want to live like any normal person.

We have elections coming up, and I’m worried where we are headed as a country. Personally I think we should never vote with our hearts, but with our heads. So for the ANC voters, just a mental note… EVEN IF the ANC lost, South Africa would never be like before the 1990’s… Cause the new generation just don’t have time for that. We don’t care about colour anymore and just want to live peacefully and do our thing like every other person. I want to get im my car, go to work, earn a salary, go to restaurants, go on holiday and live a normal life… Just like you.

As for any other supporters, I personally believe we need a new group of political parties, not based on colour, but based on what they can do for our country. We need to get past the colour thing, and focus on what’s important…

So if you are going to comment, what is important to you? What should government be focusing that is important?
