Since our government are so motivated to steal from us using the highway toll system as their latest of many tools and now state that if tolls are owed on a vehicle, its license will not be renewed, there seems to be only one solution:
Let’s all remove our registration plates, set a date and just do it in protest. I suggest from 1-30 April. Without an e-tag and registration they will have no recourse, except maybe to vehicles with branding and contact details.
It is time the government realised that they are servants of the public and the public are not their subjects to be abused and exploited.
I admire COSATU's stand on this issue, since it is an attack on the cost of living on the poor and working person and disqualifies many who may just have enough to get a car and provide themselves with transport who now would have to cover more expenses or become outlaws.
Our government needs to go back to their mandate of a better life for all and stop this enrichment of the connected few at the expense of improving the lives of the majority of South Africans.
I for one will boycott the toll roads, but what about those who have no other viable option?
Any ideas?
