Too white for ANC/Too black for DA

31 March 2014, 13:35

So come Elections on May 7, who do we vote for?  There really are only 2 realistic choices namely the ANC or the DA. Any other vote is really a waste.  I must add that the EFF is an exception…..They will never receive my vote but I can appreciate that they may just gather a substantial following especially amongst the black youth. I’ll be watching their polls with great curiosity.

However, I’m in an irritable predicament which I’m sure is shared by many.  If you’re black, you probably want to vote ANC (yes, I am generalising) but frankly they really have done little to install confidence over the last 20yrs.  Corruption prevails and the poor have essentially remained poor. Services leave a lot to be desired and let’s face it Nkandla has been a nail in their coffin.

If you’re white, you’re thinking DA but really, they will never become the ruling party. My view is that most black people will never vote for them for fear that they inherently favour white South Africans.  They have also, unfortunately, made a few terrible mistakes recently and I think even white loyalty is waning.

I sincerely wish there was a sensible “middle choice party”.  COPE and AGANG have failed although they respectively gave a glimmer of hope for a while.  We need a honest, black ruling party (because in the end they are the vast majority and should be represented as such) that really has the best interests of ALL citizens at heart and want to make our great SA prosper.  If such a party existed, I could cast my vote with confidence, hope and excitement.

Come May 7 I will just vote “same old same old’ and really nothing in SA will have changed.
