Watching some of the extensive coverage of Mangaung, complete with all the song and dance, literally, I was fascinated to see the sign used by those supporters of Jacob Zuma to indicate their support for him to have a second term in office. The sign is a two-fingered salute. Yes really –but with the palm of the hand outwards, not inwards.
Funny thing that – if the sign were reversed, and used in its more well-known form, much could change methinks. Or is that the idea in fact? Could it possibly be a subtle, or not-so-subtle, message to the electorate, or to anybody who doesn’t support Zuma? Food for thought – along with the crates of Moët and other luxuries on offer of course.
There’s nothing like thumbing your nose at the populace, or saluting them in the aforementioned time-honoured fashion.
