The drubbing of Argentina by the Boks on Saturday has prompted Augustin Pichot to push for inclusion of an Argentinian franchise team in the expanded 2016 super rugby competition.
The Southern Kings would have an argument there too, but what if both were accommodated?
What if super rugby was split into two divisions?
A top tier could consist of 8 teams, and bottom tier 9, with the inclusion of the Kings and two Argentinian teams. Automatic promotion and relegation of 2 teams each year would allow enough opportunity for teams in the lower division to fight for places among the stronger teams. It could also avoid the obvious results associated with, for example, The Lions playing against the likes of the Crusaders.
Just some food for thought!
