UK floods, man's ambivalence, and Climate Change/ Global warming.

14 February 2014, 07:36
Britain is currently experiencing the heaviest rains and floods in over 250 years - ie since records began - thus most likely the heaviest ever...

Yet there are still those who deny Climate Change and Global Warming. The UK relies very heavily on coal, gas and nuclear for its bulk energy supplies - ie - a huge reliance on Fossil Fuels... For years now consumers in the UK have had small levies added to their energy bills from the fossil fuel suppliers - in order to subsidise Green Energy companies and R & D into Green technologies..

Right. All good - as should be the case. Now - just barely a few months back - David Cameron (Prime Minister) mooted the idea - in order to save a few Pounds per month on energy bills - that these levies/subsidies be scrapped... The idea got support from the oppostion Labour Party too - and a healthy majority of UK voters agreed in a poll (over 75% if I recall correctly).........

NOW - instead of PROGRESSING forward with Green Energy - the British want to REGRESS back to more Fossil Fuels and scrap subsidies for Green companies.. Unlike Germany (wayyyyy more advanced a society) - where their people realise the absolute urgency in developing Green Energy supplies - and are paying a higher price for their energy supply today - British people want to continue to 'kick the can down the road' - ie - thus make Climate Change/ Global Warming and the sacrifices that need to be made NOW - the problem for future generations......

That is absolute selfish rubbish! For way too long we have been drunk on cheap energy supply (Fossil Fuels) - where mankind has always taken the cheaper option over the decades - the entire 20th century for that matter (remember CFC's and their effect on the Ozone Layer) - well - NO MORE. This is not the '50's or even the '80's - the time of ignorance/ ambivalence - IS OVER. We cannot keep on like this - raping the Earth - with the consequences, the price to be paid - by generations to come...

Well - barely 3/4 months after said decision and poll of UK attitudes - and *BANG* - the heaviest rains and floods in UK history. If anyone thinks this is just coincidence - dream on. The one thing on Mother Earth that has no expiry date - is Karma. To the British I now ask - do you still want to cut subsidies to Green Energy companies and R & D..?? If the answer is "yes" - wait - things will get 'worse' - much 'worse' in the years to come - until you learn...

There are between 30 to 40 years of known oil/gas - ie Fossil Fuel reserves - available to man - without drilling in the Arctic, nor Fracking in places like the Karoo - INSTEAD of regressing back to more desperate measures to find Fossil Fuels in ever-more inaccessible places - let's use the next 30 to 40 years as a time-clock - a time-frame within which we have to develop bulk-energy supply from Green, sustainable, sources..

I'll say it again and again ad nauseum - mankind must now learn to work/Live in harmony with Mother Earth - LOVE Her, not rape Her. We HAVE to seek, develop, and perfect the myriad of Green Energy options available - solar, wind, geo-thermal, tidal, hydro-electric and the 'holy grail' of all - Nuclear Fusion - the fusing of atoms under intense heat and pressure (what happens in the sun) - as opposed to Nuclear Fission (splitting of the atom).. Energy supply from Nuclear Fusion will be infinite and the by-products are harmless inert gases.. Not to mention the new technologies we will still yet discover in the next 30 to 40 years..

There's no debate here. It has to be done. If someone doesn't like the message - don't shoot the messenger. It's like heading for a cliff at 200Km/h - and knowing the cliff is there - and still the driver chooses not to apply the brakes - maybe 'hoping' the cliff will "go away"...??? LOL! Actually don't laugh - that is basically tantamount to the thinking of still so many on Earth today.

Again - oh yes - Freedom of Choice - we can either choose, both as individuals and as the collective society, to be a part of the solution - or perpetuate the problem.. Freedom of Choice - own/embrace the outcomes/results of said choices. It's a Law of the Universe. Either decision - either way - I promise you - mankind WILL live with the outcome/result of said choice.

Choose wisely.. :)
