Unemployment

13 February 2012, 08:32
Yesterday I read an article in the Sunday Times about unemployment. This is a part of a series of articles about unemployment and the first person who wrote this artcle was Zwelinzima Vavi the head of COSATU.

Now I don't regard myself as unintelligent as I have 7 yrs of post matric study behind me.  But this article did not make a word of sense to me. Vavi could not possibly have written this article as it was totally talking around the point and far too verbose for someone whose first language is not English.

The figures they gave are staggering. My personal subjective view on this matter is that the government does not know how to solve this problem as it is too huge for them to tackle. Vavi is basically a communist trade unionist.

Our economy will never grow to any significant level as long as the unions strike all the time.  One of the problems with unions is that they intend to strike anyway, the 'negotiations' are only a smokescreen to their real intentions.
