"University of Mpumalanga"

07 August 2012, 07:10
Our Province varies a lot Business Centres. But the 4 main centres cater for 40% of the Working Population, With Industries from Steel, Oil, Coal and whatsoever. Remember, Nkangala District is the most populated because of its centres, and with that, I've noticed there's a lot of businesses located in the area, not only does it prove more powerful.

The Highveld Region
(Middelburg & Witbank) is potentially the best domestic development region with much of it turning into a new "Johannesburg". I don't mind seeing the University in Nelspruit, but please care much to build 2 more Campuses in the province.

Witbank should be stripped off, since already they have a Campus of the Tshwane University of Technology, along with 2 FET Colleges.

Secunda is the perfect setting for another Campus, since well it could be effective in saving everyone travelling expenses, and most students end up working there at the end.

Nelspruit is far from everything, students prefer studying in the FET colleges located in the Nkangala District, where areas they'd head to other Universities near by (Gauteng). Personally, I don't think the Satellite Campus of the University of Pretoria (Nelspruit) caters for that much of the population in the area, I'm quite sure everyone in the area heads out to other FET colleges to further their studies.

Middelburg has a few Colleges for higher education, with a rather higher pass rate compared to any town in terms of schools in the province. Most students go elsewhere to further their studies, which in turn does give it a much better vote for a Campus of a University.

I'm in favour of Middelburg, Nelspruit and Secunda. Please consider every aspect, and don't just plan on building "one" University in an area covering over 300kms from Kanyamazane to Delmas, or Volkrust to Lydenburg. Where areas, the University of Johannesburg or Pretoria has another big campus just 25kms from out of town.
