Netherlands coach Louis Van Gaal was appointed to head Manchester United as he has been the most favorite to fill the position. Van Gaal who is currently heading the national team of Netherlands was handed a 3 year contract by the Red Devils. He comes after the sacking of David Moyes who failed to fill the extra-large shoes left by Sir Alex Furguson.
Van Gaal made his name as a midfielder playing for clubs, Ajax, Royal Antwerp, Telstar, Sparta Rotterdam, and AZ earning a total 333 appearances with 34 goals in his name. As a manager he has managed Ajax, AZ, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Netherlands. His credentials also include the Bundesliga, La Liga, UEFA Champions League to name a few. “To manage the biggest club in the world makes me very proud. Together we will make history,” Van Gaal said.
The 62 year old Netherlands born is set to commence his United duties after the 2014 FIFA World Cup. 40 year old Ryan Giggs who has handed his boots is set to assist Van Gaal in heading the club. Giggs hanged his boots to fully focus on his new career as he was named United’s assistant manager. “Van Gaal’s credentials are close to none and I’m positive the club will thrive under his leadership over the coming years”, Giggs had to say.
Van Gaal is set to take Manchester United back into the Champions League. United finished 7th on the Barclays Premier League after a not so pleasant run which resulted to ‘The Chosen One’, David Moyes being sacked. United fans patiently wait for what the Dutchman has in store for them.
