Violence coming from apartheid? How exactly?
One could perhaps say a sector of society was disadvantaged by apartheid.
One could perhaps say this disadvantage has led to poverty.
One could perhaps say poverty has resulted in parents not being available to lead their children.
One could perhaps say that lack of parenting leads to a lack of morality.
One could perhaps say that a lack of morality leads to violence.
I personally believe that violence is perpetrated by the least disadvantaged of these disadvantaged people.
I personally believe that violence is used to make small men feel bigger (mentally or physically).
I personally believe that violence is accepted within the communities of the perpetrators, and the baddies are revered rather than ostracised.
I personally believe that violence is an infection that spreads if not immediately snuffed.
I personally believe that the tolerance of violence from Zuma himself down to your average thug is part of the problem - there is plenty of video footage of violent protest where faces are clear and evidence is irrefutable.
If we start there, and ensure EVERY example of violence against people or property is properly prosecuted, we will make a dent in the downward spiral.
My 2c.
