The Disturbed….
Great show by The Muffinz and RHCP really enjoyed. Chilis was great and has been a dream of ours to see them since we bought “Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic” in 1993. When we heard Die Antwoord will be, I was looking forward to see them, but after that it is done.
Unfortunately the rubbish in between messed the entire experience up. Never mind the walking out with 1000’s negotiating a grass embankment in the dark and a fence with barbed wire on the other side. I was embarrassed by that…Die Antwoord
Starting off with julle V*kken N@aiers.....
It started off with people bopping around then later no one moved around us in the standing area and the crowd was quiet. Seriously can’t believe 5FM endorsed these people, and Flea blowing their praises, if only he knew what they were saying. Die Antwoord has outlived their use, and personally think they buried them in that show in South Africa. The youtube videos could not prepare one for such a pathetic show.
The innocent….
The point I want to get to….Why was there no age restriction on the show or warning of sorts that you could be prepared for what was going to be dealt from Die Antwoord. Not all parents have seen the videos etc. We all know that Chilis has the odd swear word here and there. Die Antwoord requesting the crowd to chant “julle ma se P*ese”. There was a small boy standing in front us in the opening standing area and he pushed through until the fence with the golden circle area, just as Die Antwoord started. The first 30 seconds we were in shock, but was expected…..not until they flashed the pictures for “freaky” song, over and over and over even with other “music”.
At “song” 2 I asked him how old he was and where his parents were. He said he was 12 and his parents weren’t there but his brother was. His brother was 14, and he pointed to him. He and 2 of his mates was the “guardians” for the evening. They each had 2 Castle drafts in hand. If they bought it or someone did it for them, surely they should not have been there.
The little boy was chanting after the Die Disturbed wannabes. After the “P*es” he had no idea what he or they were saying. I told him to close his ears and don't look. He looked away then snuck a peak again. The helpless child is going be scarred after seeing that.
Surely if the artists print parental advisory on their album covers then that should also be reflected at the concerts which is usually much more expressive than studio albums.
There were many other children in the standing area without arm bands and being lifted over the fence into golden circle. Security standing right there.
Children should not see that.
Control….
You cannot control who buys tickets on the web but you can Cleary state an age restriction and stop them from entering the stadium. How did they get there???? Did the parents drop them at Park and Ride is one thing but the child must make his way back at midnight find a bus.
Disgusting to say the least. The field standing was overcrowded and security let people through by the 1000’s. Leaving was another thing.
Hopefully there will be many more big concerts for us to attend, and hopefully lessons are learnt with each one.
