We are atheists
We are atheists - atheism is our belief system, atheism is our religion.
People say that us atheistshave no god or don’t believe in any god, but that’s not true. Our god is the god of the magical cosmicexplosion which started it all. Our godis called Big Bang and he/she/it has 3 prophets; Charles Darwin, StephenHawking and Richard Dawkins. We holdfast to their every word - atheism is our belief system, atheism is our religion.
We claim science as ourvehicle, our banner. We claim the field of science as our own, even though itshould stand alone. We believe in manyunproven theories, not because they make perfect sense, but because they comefrom scientists – infallible human beings who never make mistakes, who neverget it wrong. Their findings, publishedcollectively in the world’s most esteemed science journals, add weight to ourfaith - atheism is our belief system, atheism is our religion.
We believe that a magicalcosmic explosion happened once upon a time. Our scientists teach us that there was no matter or energy present whenit happened, it just, somehow, happened. That explosion is our god, we worship the power of Big Bang. We don’t question our scientists who tell us what to believe, because they are scientists, and they must know. The mystical explosion happened just likethey theorize it did and we place our faith in their theories - atheism is our beliefsystem, atheism is our religion.
We also believe that theuniverse, according to our scientists, comprises mostly of a substance calledDark Matter. This is absolute FACT, eventhough this elusive substance has never been found or detected in any reliableexperiment. But it must exist for ourgod of Big Bang to have come into being. It just must, and we believe it - atheism is our belief system, atheismis our religion.
We believe too that we comefrom monkeys. No one in mankind’shistory of course has ever observed this scientific anomaly, but that’s onlybecause the process called evolution takes millions/billions/gazillions ofyears. At least that’s what we’re taught from the scientific pulpits of fellowatheist scientists around the world. And yes, we believe them - atheism is our beliefsystem, atheism is our religion.
Sure, we do call Christians “narrowminded”, “ignorant” and accuse them of having their “heads in the sand” and for“wearing blinkers”, but we ourselves don’t have to keep open minds because theirGod just does not exist. He surelycannot. Surely?
Why don’t we believe in theChristian God when we are prepared to believe in so many other theories aboutmankind’s existence? Well, not believingin the Christian God makes our faith easier; we don’t really want to beaccountable to that God for the lives that we’ve lived, so it makes perfectsense to simply dismiss the notion. Indoing so, we won’t ever have to stand before that God one day. We believe so, we think so, we ... hope so.
atheism is our belief system, atheism is our religion.
