We the people! Every time we are engulfed by the presence of a great man, like our beloved and departed Nelson Mandela, who has achieved so much for a generation, we are enticed to become a copy of that person.
The light that radiates from great people, makes us desire to emulate and imitate them. Their nobility, greatness, and love compel us to do what they did. As I was musing on our hero who is departed to the next world, this feeling of being the next Nelson Mandela was vagabonding in my mind.
Now, the end of the matter is this, there will never be the next Nelson Mandela. He is the only one. Yes! We want leaders and people who will be like him. Unfortunately, that is impossible and unnecessary.
His greatness blew on us to kindle and revive the dying fire of our individual purpose and job on earth. His light shinned upon us, so that we can see our own greatness. Each one of us, is unique, peculiar, and can never be replicated. The question is, will we live our own lives to the fullest potential?
All that is required from us, is not to be the next Nelson Mandela, but to be best we can be, in small or great ways. It is not necessary to be like Nelson Mandela. We have basked in his greatness, his humility, his respect and love for mankind, his forgiveness, his sacrificial and selfless commitment to his life purpose.
He taught us that, we are given knowledge so we can distribute it to the ignorant. We are given power, so we can empower the feeble. Now, it is up to us. It is in our hands, for we are the captain of our souls. We do not need to achieve grand things to reach fix our world. We need to pursue our own purpose in life, no matter how small it may seem. Remembering that, a small thing done very well, becomes a great thing. Little is much when done with great love and humility.
Let us be the best we can be. Just like Nelson Mandela, let us develop our abilities, talents, and potentials as much as we can. Let us invest our persona and potential towards our life purpose, to serve our generation. We are powerful in your purpose. The word purpose means position.
Each one of us must take the right position, similar to the way football players take their positions during a soccer match, in order to achieve the great goal of making this world a better place for all and generations to come. We are a work of art, each one of us. Let our light so shine, reaching to the beyond, in small or big ways, whatsoever is made available to each one of us by divine providence. Now, it is up to us!
