The death on South African roads is a serious concern, but how about looking into the actual statistics of what really causes the accidents and targeting this problem first. Here is my solution.
Over the last year there were “X” amount of accidents and “Q” of fatalities and those should be targeted first. Out of “Q” there were so many busses involves, so many truck, so many taxis, so many bakkies, so many sedans well you are getting my thought. Grab the highest number and analyse the cause: speed, jumping the red robots, driving under the influence, reckless driving etc. Then educate the enforcement departments and start eliminating the issue.
But here is a fun fact : people driving with a speed of 160km/h have higher awareness than those driving at 60km/h. Speed kills - busted.
And just before everyone will jump up, here is a clarification: by “people” I mean human being that are having legally obtained , valid driver’s licence, who have respect, understanding and capability to execute the traffic laws. Accidents can be diminished, stupidity not.
