What is this thing called an Economy?

05 July 2014, 13:14
It is very confusing all the time when I come across the word Economy. There is an ongoing complain about the strikes in South Africa that they are affecting our Economy.
Whose Economy are we complaining about, really? It seems to me that this is a lame excuse from business so that their part of exploiting workers is not questioned. I ask, why is business not blamed for being the major player in slowing down our Economy?
It has been always a norm that when a strike action takes place. It is because workers are demanding the unreasonable amount. Why is that it is never questioned if the Companies are exploiting the workers?
I believe that the way forward is the NATIONAL STRIKE ON EXPLOITATION or if there can be one of those commissions to find out if business is indeed exploiting workers.
South Africa has the ratio of average income of the richest of 33,1% to the poorest 33,1%
Now I ask, what is this Economy? I hear that now the struggle is about Economic Freedom. What does that really mean to the poor people of South Africa. It is obvious that the poor people are not going to get ownership of land and natural resources anytime soon. The salary increases, won't they mean Economic Freedom to the poor workers? ..
