In recent times there has been alot of news surrrounding SAA and the fact that they forever need money to keep afloat. This money as we all know is tax money as the airline belong to the government.
What I don't understand is why do some much larger airlines make it through the tuff times but our own , recession or bad oil prices etc, never do.Is this because of management or the fact that the airline is running have empty on some of their routes ?
SAA really has a bad name and their prices ,compared to other airlines , are way higher - why is this though ?Surely airlines like comair etc that does not have the government covering their backs should be asking big ticket prices to keep afloat but they profit.Even if your profit is just R1-00 you are still making a profit.
The big question is on privatizing the airline but who has the money for one of governments largest assets ?Buying more fuel economical aircraft does have their advantages but as we are plunging even deeper in this oil well with prices going higher and higer this is not going to totally help ?
Our tax money is going up in smoke at 35.000ft if you ask me.
