In response to RodinsThinker when he wanted to know how will we be able to know which Jesus who shall come is the One; I mean a lot of people from history to now have claimed to be the Christ, how then can we be so sure that we do not reject the true Messiah when he come? After all no one have seen Jesus face to face today, so how can we know?.But the Bible is very clear on this matter, and no one, even Satan, can not counterfeit the manner in which the king of Glory, Jesus Christ would return. What a spectacular it will be. The topic of the second coming is huge, will just pick there and there, main points that distinguish the Master's coming.
First we need to understand the form of Christ after his resurrection and when he went to heaven:
"The other disciples said unto him[Thomas], We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe...And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, peace be unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus said unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they who have not seen, and yet have believed."- John 20:25-27
The verses are pregnant with matter but then I quoted it that we may know the state of Christ's form after his resurrection. Because this forms the basic foundation of this article. One may say,"Oh when Christ comes he will come as a spirit" or "Oh! Jesus will come to you alone." But the verses above are a constant prove that the King of kings, Jesus, had a body after his resurrection, the disciples could physically see him , he was not some sought of a "spirit" but literally could be touched. This is the power of God. That is why He said to the disciples; "Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath no flash and bones, as ye see me have."- Luke 24: 39, 40 and he ate before their eyes. Now how is this important? we are told that "this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come like manner as ye seen him go into heaven."- Acts 1: 11. The same Jesus, who resurrected having a perfect body, physical and touchable, will someday come the way he was but "with power and great glory." He will come in person, not as a spirit, but physical.
[a] When Jesus comes, he will not come alone but with the heavenly host, all the holy angels.
"When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him..."- Matthew 25:31
[b] Christ's coming will be visible, he will be seen by all, there is no secrecy of Jesus's coming.
"And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and THEY SHALL SEE the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory."- Matthew 24: 30
"Behold, he cometh with clouds; and EVERY EYE WILL SEE HIM..."- Revelation 1:7 You won't have to be told, you will witness it.
"Men's heart failing them for fear...And then shall THEY SEE the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory."- Luke 21: 26, 27.
[c] Christ's coming will be Audible, every ear shall hear.
"For the Lord himself shall descent from heaven with a shout, with the voice of archangel, and with the trump of God..."- 1 Thessalonians 4: 16
"And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet..."- Matthew 24: 31
[d] When Jesus comes again, HE WILL NOT TOUCH THE EARTH [will not walk on the ground], he will wait in the air, and send his angels to gather his followers everywhere on earth and take us to meet Christ in the air and go to heaven:
"And HE SHALL SEND his angels with great sound of a trumpet, and THEY SHALL GATHER TOGETHER HIS ELECT from the four winds, from one end of the heaven to the other."- Matthew 24: 31
"...and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, TO MEET THE LORD IN THE AIR: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."- 1 Thessalonians 4: 16, 17.
BUT can we just be in the air forever? No. Christ will fulfill his promise by taking the faithful to heaven. For he said; "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I WILL COME AGAIN, AND RECEIVE YOU unto myself; THAT WHERE I AM [HEAVEN], THERE YE MAY BE ALSO."- John 14: 3. This point is very much important to know, CHRIST WILL NOT TOUCH THE EARTH WHEN HE COMES, WE WILL MEET HIM IN THE AIR AND HE'LL TAKE US TO HEAVEN.
[e] His second Advent will be as a thief in the night, meaning it will take the world by surprise BUT not to his faithful followers.
"For yourselves know perfectly that day of the Lord cometh as a thief in the night. FOR WHEN THEY SHALL SAY, PEACE AND SAFETY: THEN SUDDEN DESTRUCTION cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; AND THEY SHALL NOT ESCAPE. BUT ye brethren, are not in darkness, that day should overtake you as a thief."- 1 Thessalonians 5: 2-4.
Left Behind: Fact or Fiction?
Have you ever heard of a series of books called left behind? It seem as though some believe in it. And does that square with the Bible?
"But as the days of Noa were so shall also the coming of the Son of man be...Then shall two be in a field; the one shall also be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, the other left."- Matthew 24: 37,40,41
So the idea in this Left Behind is that the wicked are the ones left on the earth, and the Just are taken to heaven. Is that so? Who are taken and left behind? and the other idea is that the righteous will disappear and be taken from earth[but scripture teach that every eye will see him]. But Jesus in the verse said "as it was in the days of Noe" "one was taken, the other was left". Question: How many groups of people were at the time of the flood ? There were two, one group shut outside the ark and perished, while the other group was in the art and they were saved. So Christ in the verse is just illustrating this fact. Two groups in the end, they that are at Satan's side, and they who are for God.
But who are taken and left at the time of the flood though?...
"And every substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man and cattle, and creeping things, and fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the face of the earth: and Noah only REMAINED ALIVE, and they that were with him in the ark."- Genesis 7:23, What does the word "remain" simply mean? Left! So Noah and they that were with him were left, they remained alive so to speak, but the wicked were destroyed. The wicked in the Bible are the ones who are taken, meaning they are destroyed. Notice Revelation 19:20; "And the beast was TAKEN, and WITH HIM the false prophet...and them that worshiped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning brimstone."- Revelation 19: 20.
So Left Behind series should Just be what it is: FICTION.
