When is enough really enough?

19 February 2013, 16:00

Where do we go wrong?

This question has been in my mind, who is failing who? Is there someone who should be held responsible for all the chaos, the murders, the rape?

Do we blame men, for not protecting us when they should be?

What describes a real man?

Well for me a man is a protector: One who is strong, the backbone of a family, someone who I can run to when I feel weak, when I am not sure of myself.

One who is a role model, one who walks with integrity, one who does not have to lift his fist on a woman to show his muscularity.

I am disturbed and afraid of men; the same men who are meant to protect us are killing us in such a brutal manner. The same men who are supposed to hold us, rape us. Where so we go then, who do we run to if we are not safe in your arms?

Real men don’t rape, well it’s sad that those are the same men that rape us, the ones who are real. When I was growing up I had such reverence for men, because they were called “the head” we were supposed to show them respect, in which we did but men have failed showing us the same respect over and over again.

Who will protect us I ask?

Should we be blaming the government?  But the government can’t control all men, it the men individually who are doing such brutal acts. If I were to blame the government on what grounds am I putting the blame? Because there aren’t enough jobs for men, is that why they resort in murdering us, in raping us?  In such brutal ways?

What are the root courses for all our current problems in our society? I believe that once we find the root course of the problems, than only are we able to speak about solutions.  Should we start dialogues, but again are dialogues going to lead us into action.

I am still confused as to why a men, would brutally hurt a woman in such a way, rape and kill an innocent life, I am referring to the murder of Anene Booysen, she did not deserve to be killed like this, not only her but the number of rape and murder cases of woman in our country that never get the media attention.

Yes men, you are failing us, you are turning into monsters that we fear, is it supposed to be that way?  Are we to fear you, should the thoughts of you cause us to shiver and choose not to be around you, because we fear what you might do to us?

I am pointing fingers at men, because they are doing this crimes, they are hurting our communities our children and our women.

When will enough be enough, when is this all going to stop? Can we for one second stop blaming the government, let’s stop pointing fingers at the government for one moment,  yes there is a lot that is going wrong in our country because of corruption that I do not dispute.  But this moment, can we find a solution for rape and murder of women.

Can we as a country stand together, can we unite in the fight against rape and murder of our women and children, can we show a united front and say enough is enough, no more. Can we stop making this a “cyber thing” and actually take action, can we act against such violent.

We need men to protect us, to take the stand and say no more, not with our women and children.  We need men to stop failing us.
