Watching the Olympic games and reflecting on South Africa's successes seems still quite disappointing that the coloureds and blacks are lagging behind on the track and sporting fields globally and South Africa which are still dominated in terms of medal winnings for a country that have a majority black.
We are surely not getting it right if we look at our unrealistic targets of 12 gold medals.
Do our government invest enough in sport from a primary level cause it seems to be happening in all our sporting codes except for football that the majority are just falling dismally.
Do we need a complete overhaul in our sporting structures that are being run down by corruption and maladministration? As a country so called richest in Africa we should be producing much more and the system are failing the majority.
Fikile please smell the coffee, SASCOC please smell the coffee, I'm just trying to be quite blunt here , we still having schools being able to offer a world class product performing next to one in the same province that's absolutely mediocre..
Just look at the USA..minority blacks + great facilities + world class coaches = gold, silver and bronze. An African American girl even won gold on the gymnast floor event.
Why can we as South Africans not be producing top class black, coloured and Indian athletes? We need to start by getting our house in order.
