A thought occurred to me while listening to my favorite morning radio show (Talk 702) and their discussions on NUMSA, COSATU and the ANC. The thought I had was that, at this current point and time, the government (my government) is doing a fantastic job in keeping with what they promised in their manifesto's.
I was overjoyed on the day when they said that corruption would be a top priority for them, hiding information from the people so that we promote this corruption, abusing state funds, that they will do their best to weaken the economy etc etc... If your jaw has dropped slightly, yes, this was not what was promised but is what we have got. Now although this is a very negative start, I still want to ask the question of, if the government is doing its "best" to help the communities and enrich the lives of the poor, what else can I do?
I have resolved to stop, for the moment, to hope that our president (Who seems to fancy himself with his own enrichment) will wake up and start taking his position seriously. I have rather turned to myself and asked, David, what will you do to improve / assist / help others? And while I do not have a very clear path yet, I will definitely keep thinking about this, and keep my eyes open for such opportunities where I can selflessly do for another what they can not do for them self.
Its too easy to get caught in the moaning and groaning of what our government is not doing, and to sit back and "kak en kerm" and let them self destruct. So I intend to rather use this time in a more productive way. Will keep updating some stories of what I get up to, as I really throw my whole being into serving others.
Only by giving away the self can we create more space to receive.
