Zacky Achmat was an influential activist who made strides with his AIDS campaign, unfortunately this is in demise as government is limiting its support to NGO’s. The same goes for Justice Edwin Cameron who received status on two levels (one being a judge and the other to be judged because of his HIV status). His Aids Consortium is also at the mercy of the NGO subsidies from the government.
Zacky and Edwin are public persona’s illuminating the existence of gays but unfortunately carrying a torch of endemic.
