I try steer clear of any racial conversations because I don't want to get into a debate however I feel after Julius Malema's comments I have to say something!
I was born in 1990 which made me four years old when Mandela got released so i did not understand what was happening however I grew up amongst White and Black and still remember the days I used to sit outside eating Skop with my black friends.
I did not know about South Africa's sad history so I believed we all live together peacefully and believed there was no drama.
I'm far from racist and it saddens me when I hear about what took place before 1994 and even though I was not part of it, I'm still made to feel guilty.
I believe in South Africa and I believe in a united nation and my biggest Role Model and hero is Nelson Mandela because I believe he fought for a united nation and a peaceful country. However, I also feel like Julius Malema is taking that peace away layer by layer and not because he has any influence but because people believe he is fighting for a better South Africa which I believe is not true!
Julius Malema always carries on about white monopoly and white this and white that but he doesn't see that everything he does wrong he shifts the blame onto other people when he is sitting in an expensive house and dining at expensive restaurants "But he is fighting for the poor???"
I believe in this Country and I believe in a United South Africa, however, everything Mandela fought for is unravelling at the seams because people allow others that are of higher stature to plant these seeds in their heads.
Let go of the hatred and let go of the slander because all that negativity is hindering people from moving on. Yes a big injustice was done to the black South African's and I live with those terrible thoughts but is it not up to us to make things better for ourselves? Is it not up to us to empower and equip ourselves with the power of forgiveness?
Our children and their children deserve to know the truth but do they need to be filled with hatred and anger and do they need to believe things wont get better?
People need to forgive and realise that we are all free and we all have a chance now to make things better for ourselves and for our children because if we dont start making a difference then Julius Malema will sow the seeds of hatred and we will never be a united country and we will never gain the tools to make a success out of life. Black, White, Indian or coloured we all have countless opportunities and the world is at our feet but first we must learn the gift of Forgiveness.
