Why are those with the biggest mouths to pathetic to state who they are?
Since discovering the joys of this forum, I sometimes purposefully and sometimes inadvertently walked head on into a variety of controversies. Sometimes I do invite them with provocative statements to see how people will react.
Sometimes the debates are frivolous, sometimes passionate. From people that light-heartedly differed from the view expressed by me, to some people that find some sort of sick satisfaction to vociferously and very personally make some of the most disgusting remarks. Whether it is a discussion on the economy, religion, rugby, social structures in South Africa, etcetera, the reaction seems always the same. Some agree, some disagree, even passionately, but disagreement is not the problem.
What irks me are those that deem it their God given right to make the most disgusting, bordering and slanderous statements about contributing writers. Those that think they possesses all the rights on the truth and can therefore, at will, pass judgement on others in the crudest most repulsive way! I have noticed that the administrators of this forum try to keep thing civilised, and some of the most repellent statements are normally removed.
What is it about us South Africans that thinks to shout the loudest, with the most nauseating despicable language, and with a full blown filthy slanderous attack on the person with whom we might differ, is the way to win the debate. Obviously our level of decency, civilisation and by all means our sense of democracy is but a thin veneer. Why can’t we discuss things, even differ from one another without resorting the lowest form of ghastly sickening gutter behavior.
Unfortunately the majority of those that believe cussing, personal insult, slur and defamation are the way to debate, happen to be those that hide behind false names and pseudonyms. Those cowards that think that they are brave defenders of their sadly discredited viewpoints,
“If you do not have the courage to make your statements under your own “real” name, please shut up. No one wants to hear or read your ineffectual drivel. You are only highlighting your own cowardice! You feeble spineless fools, without the balls to say who you are, your statements are invalid and your smutty viewpoint mute. Curse till you are blue in the face, we all know your are nothing more than a bottom feeding piece of wretched trash! Leave debating to those with the strength of their convictions and the courage to make any statement supported by their real name and identity!”
