When great nations go to war over “human rights violations” the winning side gets to put the loser’s leaders on trial for their violations as the entire world follows the trial on TV. In the end the monster is locked up or killed and the world forgets about it just as fast as the newspaper headlines change.
Often we loose interest as soon as some celebrity has a child or a sports star is found with his pants down.
What confounds me is that what sells newspapers is not always what’s pertinent to our needs.
Are we all suffering from the same brain rot? Who in fact is to blame for these crimes?
We can not blame the nations on either side for killing countless people because it was war. We do not blame the military leaders for sending good men to die when their plans fail. How about the soldiers on the front line who follow orders are they guilty? Is it the captains of industry, the weapons manufacturers, the ship builders the scientist who designed the best missiles or is it the parents that allow their offspring to go to war?
The problem is the entire world has gone mad.
Monster after monster is elected by those worse than him and given the power to declare war. When they decide to throw their weight around war is inevitable. Unlike the warlords of years gone-by, they do not lead from the front; they sit in their billion dollar fortresses and send out those willing to die.
When one considers the justification for all these wars we have to consider the human price that was paid. Can we afford to let monsters like this rule? Wars for oil or opium, sometimes war for land or freedom. Free from what?
These monsters did not magically appear in power, we the people elected them.
On the stand the monster sits smiling as the case is presented and when the judge finally concludes the trial the monster sheds no tears as he knows that idiots “human rights activists” will prevent his death.
The truth is we are no better than those monsters. We have elected corrupt, thieving rapists as our leaders. We then elect them again a few more times even after they have failed miserably.
We have riots over service delivery but do you see our leader delivering or even take notice. A night club burns down in another country and our president sends his condolences but when his own people are killed he doesn’t even acknowledge that there is a problem. He is out the country so often he doesn’t even recognize the street names he spent millions on to change.
When our police officers shoot some rioters we put them on trial but forget that they too are human and are under orders and just as afraid. You might have only thrown a rock but the 10000 people there know where he lives.
Our leaders have failed us miserably and before we end up fighting the next world war costing the lives of all our children’s just to quell their boredom we should put them on trial now. This needs to be concluded before June as Oscar’s trial begins then and the media will have no choice but to switch to that trial.
