My last article was accepted but not published so I can only imagine that it's a crowd-pleaser and News24 are saving it for a big weekend!
Today however, I'd like to provide my rugby insights as to why I won't be supporting the Lions this year. You shouldn't either.
From what I understand, the Eastern Cape has had a long history in rugby, rich in tradition and a feeder region for the Springboks.
It seems that there's always been a racist angle in SA Rugby. Not sure what that's all about because we don't have that in Australia. If you're good enough, you play.
Mighty Australian players like Digby Ioane, Georgie Gregan, Kurtley Beale, Wil Genia and many others, have been chosen on merit and thus find themselves playing for the best rugby team in the world, the Wallabies.
They way I see it, all the Lions supporters are just sour grapes because their under-performing team weren't good enough to stay in the Super Rugby competition.
The Kings deserve their chance and all the black players from the Eastern Cape deserve their chance to shine on the world stage and show the local talent they have on offer.
They have a brilliant captain and leader in the form of Luke Watson, who together with his father, will ensure that the Kings show the world how good a team they really are.
Time for the Lions to get on board and show their patriotism to South Africa. Go buy those Kings rugby jerseys and get behind the Super Kings, your new team for 2013!
GO KINGS!
