Why should I - or anyone else, for that matter - believe anything that now comes from the ANC?
The ANC has been caught out in two stupendous lies regarding Nelson Mandela's health and progress. Lies of commission and omission. And having been caught out then just brazenly, and with a straight face, seeks to carry on as usual, ignoring the fact that credibility is severely impaired when you are seen to have your trousers wrapped around your ankles with no adequate or plausible explanation why your tonker is getting suntanned.
True to its historical and ideological roots, the ANC seeks to micro-manage the lives of all those under its control - even to the emotions of its own supporters. Does the ANC truly believe that the citizens of this country will publicly rend their clothing and embark upon mass hysteria should they think that Mandela is seriously ill or about to die? This country is mature and realistic enough to know that Mandela is elderly and mortal; come the day, South Africans of all types will mourn the inevitable and carry on as best they can in their daily lives.
The ANC seeks only the best way to capitalize on Mandela the icon for its own ends and benefit. Mac Maharaj's words are generated from a list of eroded platitudes and hackneyed ideological communist mantras, delivered with all the sincerity and warmth of a thrown knife.
And, if the ANC will lie about the state of Mandela's health, what else are they not telling us about all manner of other things?
