Why South-Arica? WHY??

09 May 2014, 18:18

This will be an angry rant more than anything else, just some steam coming out of all openings.

How can we as a country, you as voters, support a corrupt, selfish and thieving president?!  Like the bruised wife cowering in the corner, going back to her alcoholic husband, because he promised to change.

Don’t get me wrong, I was under no illusion (standing in the voting line, my eyes sparkling with anticipation) and I knew that the ANC would win.  There was just a slither of hope, that the percentage would be so low, that it would be a semi wakeup call for our commander in cheat, sorry – charlatan, oops, chief.

It’s ridiculous to think that the DA, or any party with a white leader for that matter, will ever rule this country again, and I suppose we can dance naked under the full moon in view of the fact that EFF only made a skid mark.

It would be interesting to know whether those poor souls, occupying the shacks surrounding South-Africa’s Buckingham palace, also inked their X next to the uneducated (literary – correct me if I’m wrong, but the man only attended school up to grade 8) alleged rapist, which we currently call our president?

The founders of the ANC must be spinning in their graves at the sight of what the ANC has become.  Sophisticated, educated and ambitious men who fought heart and soul for their people.  They fought for freedom and equality.  They fought for fairness.   I doubt that the voice they wanted to give to Africans, was that of corruption.

The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.  It rings so true.  How many people who were severely affected by apartheid, have reaped the benefits of BEE or a so called free and democratic South-Africa?  90% (just my own estimate – feel free to correct me with statistics) of black people who lived in townships and shacks before 1994, still live in those same shacks.  RDP houses have been dished out to those shelling out the cash.  Jobs that were meant to be created for those deserving, were filled with ANC-cronies.

Maybe it’s the empty promises, and the hope that they might be filled one day, still driving people to vote for the ANC…  But that pot of gold at the end of the ANC rainbow will never be found…
