Why the Zuma Second term is good for South Africa?
So, you think that I support Zuma? Quite to the contrary, I despise the man. I like to call him unfit to rule and describe his Presidency as Unequal before the law.
Some are more equal than others. The people in the ANC supporting him, some of whom I am close too, claim that Zuma is their man because under him they are untouchable and their time to eat [at the taxpayers expense] is not yet over, hence their support for the man. What is good about this is that my extended family comprising of about 30 people from my in-laws and my family numbering some 80 people all agree that at the next election in 2014, we are going to punish the ANC. These 80 votes are all going to opposition parties. In the long term this will surely make our government strong (whether it is coalition of the opposition or ANC), because if the ruling party [ANC] wins, its majority will be not more than 54%, i.e. the opposition will be close to 45% meaning that the ruling party will have to start to be accountable.
I know in the short term, before the next elections, more looting of state resources will continue, but Zuma will get his day in court. Let us not forget that the DA will get the Spy tapes and the review of Mpshe’s decision to drop charges against Zuma will be in court during the course of next year and Zuma will use his tricks of delaying. But the man from Nkandla’s win will ultimately cost the ruling party dearly, because, cleva blacks as he calls us, will sway our parents and grandparents to strengthen the opposition. I say bring it on ANC – give us Zuma, and you are going down.
