I looked at the world and pondered on our interactions and I am afraid I am starting to question the sanity in us as a people. We persecute a man because he loves another man; rape a woman because she loves another woman and then use words like God created man and woman, not Adam and Steve to justify our hate for those who love their own.
It’s interesting though how the bible is used to justify our twisted actions. The same bible that speaks of Adam and Eve, also speaks of sex before marriage as being a sin, how many of us have observed this statement, yet we feel entitled to judge others though the same bible says, though shall not judge. Is it not the same bible that says love thy neighbour as you love yourself.
We then say God cannot have created gay people, I have observed that God is a God of diversity, look around, we are different colours, and by the way this difference in colour was once used to make others feel inferior with God misrepresented as usual. Then we are different shapes, some men even have breasts and curves, yet we were made to believe that man should not own such attributes, should we then stone men with breast and curves. C
aster Semenya was persecuted for being strong, because women are not created like that, they say. The same God created the blind, the deaf; some twins are born with their heads joined. Is this not evidence enough that God is too creative, too diverse. We really need to look deep within ourselves as a people and asses our sanity; we would rather kill a man who loves another man and turn a blind eye to a man who rapes a woman or a child or a priest who molests an innocent little boy.
We feel entitled to rape a woman because she loves another woman or because she is wearing a mini skirt or just because she is a woman. We attend churches that encourage segregation, preach division. We endorse a government that misuses our money, is corrupt to its mitochondrion.
We turn a blind eye to a neighbour who thumps his wife and say it’s none of our business but if a man kisses another in Sandton, it suddenly becomes our business to mock and harass them. I therefore ask this question, are we as a people mad?
