So the last games of the Rugby Championship finally rolls around, and not a moment too soon to end the misery that was the Springboks’ dismal campaign.
This will be short and sweet because quite frankly, I can’t stand stating the obvious.
Last week saw the Springrolls pull of an unexpected upset against mighty Australia (with a little help of the match officials, we can agree).
This week however I feel that SANZAR would have done their homework to right the wrongs of the past and will be harder on discipline during all phases of the game between the world champion All Blacks (should have been Australia), and the sprightly Springrolls.
The last time these two sides clashed at the Soweto Stadium, the All Blacks completely outclassed the local team and showed why there were worthy contenders ahead of last year’s World Cup. No one really gave the Proteas team much chance, and rightly so – they bombed as expected.
We just hope that Saturday’s event in Soweto is adequately managed as we don’t need a bunch of soccer teams pitching up on the same day in what’s likely to be another disorganised African balls-up.
I predict the Springrolls to falter as they do, at this last hurdle, and for the All Blacks to down them by at least 35 points, give or take a converted try either way.
The Kiwi backline puts to shame the half-baked counter offering fielded by the Springrolls, so that battle’s all but won.
The forwards? No contest. There’s no way the teenage Proteas forwards can compete with the World Champions (should have been Australia).
So all that said, let’s just see what happens on Saturday then.
Prediction:
All Blacks to squash the petal-less Proteas.
Australia vs Argentina prediction:
The World-class Wallabies to get their own back and end their fantastic season on a high - Wallabies by 42.
Go Australia!
