Wildlife Channels - have they lost the plot?

04 July 2012, 15:41

Is it just me or are there other people out there that are starting to question these animal channels on Dstv?

When Animal Plant, Nat GeoWild, Discovery Channel and others started I couldn't get enough of these shows because they were very interesting and the taught me a lot of stuff I would never have known.

Now it seems that these channels have also given in to the uneducated nd have started producing what I can only classify as reality TV shows that are about as good as The Kardashians!

I also feel that these new shows are doing nothing but harm to nature. Take this idiot american Brady Bar (or something like that) this guy claims to be a conservationist and yet have you seen how he handles animals? He is like a bull in a china shop, I am sure most of the animals he encounters die of shock after he has left.

The other show that also has nothing to do with animal conservation in fact, I think it has the complete opposite effect. The guy that walks with lions!!! I mean really dude, what are you going to achieve by doing this? Lions are WILD animals, why would we want them to allow us to walk near them? Isn't is the fact that they are wild and killing machines that appeals to us and makes them such an amazing animal? I don't want to see a lion paying around with some stupid person who has nothing better to do with his life.

I wish they would bring back show that actually made sense and promoted animal conservation. Bring back John Vatti bring back Sir David Atternburgh, setup a camera away fromthe animals and then observe them. They do enough interesting things without man getting involved.

Maybe I am just old school!

What do others think?
