Youth day is on Monday and now everyone with an opinion is lashing out at their keyboards. I consider myself youth and I am tired of our youth complaining. Coz that is all they ever do, complain. This is right, that's wrong, no one cares about us, no one wants to help us blah blah blah.
Well its time you catch a wake up and realise we are in the year 2014. Not 1994 or 1967. Time has not stood still and everything around you has changed. The only problem is that you continue to live in the past. You have taken it upon yourself to fight for the old and weary. We are all intelligent young people with brains and a lot of resources. Information flows freely from all directions, we just need to discern between what is important and what not.
You cannot move forward if you continue to live in the past and that's what you have been doing. You have used the past as a scapegoat to not reach your full potential, you are using the past as a reason not to work for what you want in this world and you are using the past to validate why you aren't where you want to be in your life.
Let me tell you, your life is what you make of it. Your successes won't be handed to you by anyone and nothing ever come of waiting. The time has come for you to stand up and take what is rightly yours. You need to stop feeling sorry for yourself and become active citizens of this country. You have a voice, now be heard. Stop waiting for a political parties to change your life, you change your life. You make decisions that will either improve or destroy your future.
Young people of South Africa, I am a strong believers is taking your dreams, failures, successes into your own hands. I believe we always have a choice, an alternative and there is always another way. sometimes you just have to work harder looking for it. I believe if you can dream it, you can live. This youth day stop reminiscing about the past, and start looking towards the future.
Stop dropping out of high school, stop making children you can't afford to look after, Stop throwing your life away, stop blaming circumstances for your lake of determination. Start by setting goals for yourself and go for it, start surrounding yourself with people that will walk the road to self success with you. Start surrounding yourself with positivity and self-improvement. Start building on your short falls, show the man that said you couldn't, you will come back and do it better. None of us can do or know everything but never stop learning and trying. This youth day, be the difference you want to see in South Africa.
