My daughter got her driving learners licence sometime ago. She then went to a Driving School in Randburg for the K53 Method of Driving. Everything by the book. So far so good. After 10 lessons, she's ready for the Real Deal, her Driver's Licence.
Check with the Driving School Teacher about the way forward, and this is the knowledge he imparted. If you decide to go on your own to make an Appointment, it could take up to 3 months. If he was to make an appointment, it could be in a weeks time, at a cost of R 500. In addition to that, it would be another R 500 for the car. And then, another interesting offer, a Guaranteed Licence for another R 1500. I failed to understand, and asked what this was. He eloquently explained that for the R 1500, she would come home in a week's time with her driver's licence. What an Amazing Basket of Options.
If my Daughter gets her Drivers Licence, it's because she's competent. I tried another Driving School, and was offered a similar package. I gave up on Randburg and tried a few other Traffic Departments in Gauteng, all with identical offerings. Needless to say, a Year later and my Daughter is without a Drivers Licence. I am not going to be Corrupted out of desperation. Can anyone out there advise me. Is it still possible to do something that is fundamentally Correct in this Country. I need to be a Responsible Parent, a Responsible Citizen. Am I being unfair to myself, or am I downright Stupid. PLEASE HELP !!!!
