I am by no means a journalist (in fact this would be my first public writing), but I was wondering recently - after the disaster with Helen Zille and Mamphela Ramphele - Is Patricia De Lille not the right person to lead the Democratic Alliance into the next election?
Patricia has shown the nation that she was able to move from the PAC/ ANC positions - renouncing and exposing corruption within her own ranks and smoothly aligned (amalgamated) into the opposition for the sake of "good governance". She joined, submitted, didn't fight or get greedy for position, and worked hard to produce.
I feel she a SEASONED politician who is able to offer a lot more than she currently offering just to the province.
In terms of the strategy of the DA, with a face like De Lille on the boards of the DA (as opposed to Zille), the party would show that we moved from being a white party to a truly democratic, non racist party.
In terms of leadership qualities, does Zille have anything over De Lille? I think they are pretty evenly poised. I believe De Lille could possibly be a little more ruthless (based on her political background).
Anyways, part of my reason for writing would be to get your views (constructive arguments) on the above. So, let's hear it!
