In the coming weeks I'll be running workshops for young moms. One of our sessions deals with how society views young parents.
I've asked on Twitter and Facebook and the responses I've received have been much as expected, given that they're people who generally think the same way I do. Also proof that I know some very nice people.
But now I need to open the question to a wider audience - the people that teen moms deal with every day in their communities, schools and homes. The General Public. That's you, oh ever-reasonable, level-headed and kind-hearted News24 readers (!)
When I say "teenage mother" - what comes to mind immediately? Do you have a picture in your head? Who do you see, and how do you feel about them? Is this idea based on people that you know personally?
I'll be taking the responses back to my group for discussion.
Would also be interesting to think about whether you'd be comfortable to make the same comments to the young moms in person.
So off you go then, tell me what you think.
